June 6, 2015 – You can “Be a Tourist in Your Own Town”. Head to downtown Port Huron and discover and rediscover history and attractions. This event is from 10:00am  – 4:00pm! Take a ride on the trolley, buses or even the Huron Lady II. Here are some other attractions you may find of interest. Most of these are free or greatly discounted for the event.

  1. Blue Water Trolley and Bus Transfer – Chamber of Commerce-north / McMorran Place-south Downtown a place to explore, to shop and dine
  2. USCGC Bramble – Tour the retired Coast Guard Cutter Bramble Buoy Tender tours $5.00
  3. YMCA of the Blue Water Area – Tour and learn about this active fun filled facility
  4. Blue Water River Walk – Guided tours at 10 am, 11am and 1pm of the restored natural shoreline and shallow water habitats with Friends of the St. Clair River
  5. Gray Fox Sea Cadet Training Ship – Moored on the BlueWater River Walk. Built in 1985
  6. Vantage Point / Great Lakes Maritime Center: Flower Market and Entertainment, Great Lakes Nautical Society – ship model display, Antique Outboard Motor Club – display
  7. Studio 1219: Art Exhibits, pottery demonstration, stained glass demos
  8. Huron Lady II – $5.00: The Huron Lady II will have 6 special one hour cruises at 10:30 a.m., 11:45 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 2:15 p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. for a discounted rate of $5.00 / person.  Tickets can be purchased at the Huron Lady Dock the day of while supplies last, docked on Water Street next to Desmond Marine.   9. Knowlton Ice Museum: Largest collection in Northern America of ice harvesting tools and other unique collectibles, short movie
  10. McMorran Tower – $2.00: Climb 188 steps for a bird’s eye view of the City
  11. SC4 Natural Science Museum “The Making of a Fossil: A Michigan Legacy” exhibit, fossil dig and other kid’s science activities
  12. Huron Lightship Museum: Only remaining Lightship on the Great Lakes served as a floating lighthouse.  For 36 years it guided mariners into the narrow channel of lower Lake Huron.
  13. Pine Groove – Electronic music festival located in Pine Grove Park: 3 music stages, exhibits, food & beverage, vendors, kids’ activities
  14. Thomas Edison Depot Museum – Edison conducted his first electrical and scientific experiments here. View a film of young Tom Edison’s boyhood and artifacts from his boyhood home.
  15. Fort Gratiot Light Station Grounds / Gift Shop: Lighthouse Tower Climb $5.00, must have closed-toe shoes, no sandals or flip flops
