Party Planning Tips for a Baby Shower + Check out Tips on Throwing a Baby Shower in the Blue Water Area!

The good news announcement has been made: there’s a baby on the way! When that news flash comes from someone near and dear to you, you’re likely to think of hosting a baby shower—but how do you go about that? It’s not difficult! Decide on the theme you want and then the five main considerations for hosting a shower will be easier to pursue: invitations; decorations; menu; activities; and favors. Check out these awesome Perks of a Target Baby Registry!

Pondering the theme choice is the backbone of everything so let’s focus on how to choose the theme. Here are three suggestions to help your contemplations:

Is the focus to be on new mom-to-be or on baby?

If your focus is on the new mama, use her interests as a take-off. For example, if she is a gardener, incorporate lots of flowers and references to seeds growing. Or use a spa theme and make the shower all about pampering her and the guests by doing facials, neck rubs, or foot massages and serving healthy menu choices. Think of what you know new mom likes and use that as a direction. If the shower focuses on new baby, then celebrate childhood passions with toys, nursery rhymes, favorite characters or books as inspiration. You could feature hopes for the baby’s future, too.

What mood/feel do you want the party to have?

Is your party a casual get-together or is this going to tend toward elegance? Some themes just work better in one category. Whatever your decision, follow through on the details.

Is there a seasonal reflection or favorite color to inspire your choice?

A springtime celebration in pastels will convey an entirely different vibe than a rustic autumn gathering in earth tones.

Hosting any party takes work, but it is fun effort, especially when there is such a happy ending of welcoming a new baby to the world!
